Planning Is Priceless

Estimates: The World Bank has estimated a worldwide pandemic economic impact of $800 billion dollars. The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates at least 25% of the worldwide workforce affected. In the United States, some recent survey information indicates that companies believe that up to 80% of their workers could be adversely affected by a pandemic. The Federal Implementation plan has estimated about 40% of the U.S. workforce will be affected depending on the severity of the outbreak.   The real question is, are you ready if a pandemic occurs?  

Beyond the workforce issue, there won’t be a whole lot of time to plan. Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt in December 2005 said “Within 16 weeks of the theoretical Thai outbreak, 92 million Americans would have been infected with H5N1Flu.” That’s not a lot of planning time.
